Nice, yet another glorious reason to use Wikidot!
This reminds me of a request made times ago for making a sort of template:_create or something page that appears for pages that don't exist yet.

I was just thinking (and I'm not sure if there's a way to do it already, but I don't think so, right off the top of my head), it would be nice if links to private categories could be "hidden" from those who can't see it (meaning that just the link text shows, with no active link).
There's nothing more annoying than being tantalized with a link that you can't view (ever browse a site with a paywall? Then you know what I mean).

I logged out, and tried to click on hidden pages links. I got the message from the other day, not this _public page…

The way I have done it is that I have a list of all hidden pages and they appear in that list:
[[module ListPages pagetype="hidden" category="*" order="fullname" separate="no"]]
%%fullname%%
[[/module]]

You could alternatively mark the _public pages with some tag (like _public) to exclusively show those pages:
[[module ListPages pagetype="hidden" tags="+_public" category="*" order="fullname" separate="no"]]

There is a NYI (not yet implemented) design for selecting pages by name in the design sketch for ListPages improvements.
