My assumption is that this was done to prevent all of the heavy server load associated with ListPages lately…
Is ListPages still limited at 250 results per page (or a similar number) ?
My guess is that CountPages was created as a separate module so that it could have no limit whilst leaving ListPages at 250.

Perhaps there could be a way to queue pages to go live at a certain day/time in the future. It would add greatly to the complexity but might be useful for bloggers.

The idea is that ListPages won't show a postdated page. (Maybe with a showFuture="yes" option it would.)

Edit: There is already javascript code that Wikidot uses to calculate the length of time between a date and the current date. It returns a negative number of seconds after the current date instead. A simple non-negative integer check would tell the ListPages module to ignore that page.
ListPages could simply be consistent with the search syntax:
To restrict the search by date, add either or both of:
since:yyyy-mm-dd and till:yyyy-mm-dd
but predating could be also useful.

This will be very useful for me. Then, I could have dynamic front page content. I could programm the change of the front page contents each two or three days. Now i change it once a month, manually…

Wikidot, more than a wiki ?
If you add
- predating and postdating, and also
- a publication status:
- draft (only author can see)
- staging (only author, admins and mods can see)
- published (everyone)
- withdrawn
… you have a CMS.
What happened with the wikidot arrow? I don't want to click my user name, and then have to click my account!!! I liked the arrow. Was this asked, or just done, because if it was just done, without asking what people think, then thats not a good thing.
(If it was announced in an e-mail update, then I didn't get it. I don't know why I don't receive updates.)
I do not know why and if this is a wished effect:
The arrow for the little and helpful menu ( to remember it - it is explained in http://handbook.wikidot.com/en:logout-from-wikidot) is not longer available!
What has happened ?

Without this downarrow we have to click on "my_account" - hidden on the user-id and than go to the menu point we want… a long way for a short - clean - link
