27 - The Summon Command
This is the Redirect module that redirects the browser directly to the "http://projects.wikidot.com/thread:134" page.
This is a design sketch for the "summon command", which is a way of notifying a Wikidot user directly of an important page or comment.
The syntax is: [[user username!]]. Using this syntax in any comment or page causes a notification to go the user, with this email subject: "[sitename] %%created_by%% wants your attention".
Use cases:
- Ask someone to join a thread or chat
- Let someone know you're talking about them
The summon takes effect when a page is created, but not when it is edited.
As the subject is different to the "page created by" and "page edited by" format, it would mean it's a completely new mail in Gmail. I could even set it up so that "wants your attention" flags the message as important. Perfect!
This could be abused though, to spam a particular user. Change a live template to include this:
And you have a problem — particularly if that user can't edit the template to remove their name.
So a way to block notifications from certain users or certain sites would be welcome, as well.
