A few days ago we improved our email delivery system. Since then we had to solve a few issues that caused unexpected behaviour, but the system seems to be bulletproof now. It allowes us to reliably send emails to our users, including those using Hotmail.com addresses.
However, until today we could not deliver all instant email notifications reliably. If you had tried to create a Wikidot account using a Hotmail email address you would have been warned that not all emails could be delivered to your mailbox. Today we are fixing this too.
We are re-activating instant email notifications to all Hotmail users. The email notifications settings, which had no effect on Hotmail-based accounts, should now work too.
Cheers!
This is great news! Thanks for finally finding a way to remove this thorn in our sides permanently.
One thing I just noticed… The prompt to "Use your real email — people will never see this" is not entirely true. If you add another Wikidot user to your contacts, your email address is exposed to them. This is fine, but you may want to add some text to explain this.
