About a week ago we introduced a new tool for Wikidot users — which gives the possibility to translate the Wikidot interface into non-English languages!
The translation is done by editing a Wikidot site: translate.wikidot.com. There is a discussion page for each language - so everyone can collaborate on the translations, add a missing translation or correct translation mistakes.
During the last 10 days, our users have made three complete translations (to French, German and Serbian). The credit for this goes to:
Also many thanks to jjs for his contribution to the Finnish translation.
If Wikidot does not speak your language, we highly encourage you to join the translation team — it is open for everyone. You will also find guides and a forum for translators.
The next big step in Wikidot development is what we call "User Dashboard". It's a completely rewritten panel for changing user settings and keeping up to date with messages, invitations and notifications we're currently working on.
Stay tuned for updates!

Looking forward to hearing more about this!

Hmm, the dashboard has been under construction for a while now. I would love a preview - or at least an updated screenshot!

I think you are referring to this?
I don't think this is the same thing, but I may be wrong.

Would this User Dashboard be multilingual too?

Aaahh, so that's what you've been busy working on. Sounds good - I'm looking forward to it too!

What we call the Dashboard is just an improved and cleaned My Account panel, that gives better overview on what is going on in your Wikidot space. I believe it is a step towards evolutionary improvement of the user interface.
We will publish more info when dashboard matures enough to go into tests.

During my free time and for free, of course, anything you need I can translate to Portuguese of Portugal. Anyway and in agreement with the New Portugiese Ortographic Agreement, the Portuguese in any of the ex-Portuguese-Colonies are now really together.
Feel free to ask me anything you need.

Great! Feel free to join translate.wikidot.com and add Portuguese language (ISO code "pt").

Thanks! It seems that I'm the only Finnish translator at the moment, but I'm sure I'll catch up with those three languages (sooner or later :)

This is great news. Congratulations to everyone involved.
Is there any chance that the translations could be chosen on a user-by-user basis rather than a site-by-site basis? Several of my site-members are German, (a few more are Czech, Russian and Japanese) and I am sure they would appreciate having the infrastructure of the site in their native language, even though the content is in English.
When will the new translations be available for the existing user-dashboard? You have the phrases translated, but the language drop-down is still only showing English and Polish. Is it just while you test the system, or are you thinking of leaving it until the new dashboard goes live?
I was wondering the same thing. This would be a better approach with multilingual sites such as mine.
Edit: another solution for multilingual sites would be an ability to define the language per category.

I would like to remind that not all interface was offered for translation. There are whole parts that are still in English.
I noted down here everything that I found that is still in English. I was wondering if this will be offered for translation, too, or this is not planned to be translated?

Hi I am at a total loss. I came across your site and seen. Help with pawn shops. So was thinking that people here could help out with questions in this area? If so I am not sure how to get to the right place. I was just needing to know if anyone knew think all the rules and stuff to starting a pawn shop. I know each state is not the same, and I have got everything almost ready that I know to get. Just want to make sure I am not leaving anything out. I live in Virginia. If anyone has like a list of things that I need to do, and or things I will need to buy would you be so kind to send me a email at <removed> any help is better then none. I would have send on here but I do not know how to get anywhere on this sire. Thanks for you alls time no matter what.
Thanks,
Trish
I removed your e-mail address from the post… it is better if we send you a message on here, that way spammers do not have access to your e-mail address. Wikidot will send you an e-mail, with a link directly to where you can read and reply back again.

Hey Shane, were you aware of Wikidot's inbuilt email protection system? Spambots can't read email addresses typed in on Wikidot (although human spammers still can).
As far as I know it is only reversed - therefore a spambot that knows what to look for can still read it?
