On Thursday and Friday we rolled out a very important new feature, cross-site includes, or CSIs. CSIs make it possible to share code across sites. I'll explain roughly how this works, and provide some examples of where we're already using it.

Wikidot.com originated in the lovely Polish city of Torun, which is famous for its stunning brick architectures, and lively nightlife. Today, of course, Wikidot.com is a global community, with most members coming from English speaking countries, especially America. So the original quaint language and spelling has started to look unprofessional.

While free private sites are limited to five members, Wikidot.com has offered universities and schools the option of unlimited private sites for their classes and courses. Now, we've decided to make it really simple to get an educational site. In your site manager Access policy page, just click the "educational upgrade" link, enter your school or university name, and description of project, and click "Please upgrade my site now".

Today we saw the birth of a new Iron Giant template, for photo albums. This is Brunhilda's first reusable Wikidot application and it's worth checking out because it's so easy to use, and elegantly designed. I'm happy to award Brunhilda a well-earned brown belt for this achievement. One step closer to that coveted black belt, Brunhilda! :-)

This morning we finished an upgrade of Wikidot.com's database hardware to new servers that are faster than ever. This was so boring and uneventful that there was not a blip on the radar. All you will see is that Wikidot.com is now faster, that complex pages return faster, and that even under much heavier load, Wikidot.com will continue to run Fast & Smooth.

It's Tuesday here and in the northern hemisphere the trees are losing their foliage, and winter is arriving faster than bad news. But thankfully, there's always a place and a time to complain and that's here, today, on the Tuesday Rant.

Some people are getting bewildered by the number of sites we start via this blog. So I've started a page to index the main Wikidot sites of general interest. Starting with the sites I'm admin of, and others I know of, I've put together a list.
